One more new group has started their account in the Canara Bank.  There are many advantages in this bank compare to other banks.  Four members of this group are separated from another group, and other four are from an existing group which is going to close soon and others are new members.  These women shared with us that it is difficult for them to live without SHG because it supports them in all the level.

Canara Bank is a nationalized bank. The other bank is a local bank.  We are not happy with the dealings of the local bank with our poor women.  For example they make the women to make many trips to the bank in order to get sanction a loan and women loose their work on that day, also they give a small amount of money as a loan. Dealings of the Canara Bank is good and they do the work on time.  Women can get more money as a loan from this bank.  If women have Rs. 30000 in their account, the first year they can take the double of this amount as a loan.  In the second year they can triple amount of the total money.   When a self help group(SHG) start their account in Canara Bank women can also take a LIC policy of Rs.100 for per year.  Situation like sudden death, her family can get Rs. 50000/- .  Last year one family got Rs. 50000/-. Canara Bank personnel's also come to the villages to take classes for the women also conduct meeting with them before sanctioning a loan to the group. Women can pay back their installment any other branches of Canara Bank.
