Legal Status and Summary of the NGO: Janseva Society Tala is the branch of Registered Society namely "Janseva Society Mangaon, Mumbai. Janseva Society Mangaon Mumbai is registered under Society Registration

 Act XXI of 1860 with No. F-41118 of 07 January 2011.

It is also registered under section 12-A of the Income Tax Act (ITA) from Office of the Director of the Director of Income Tax (exemptions), Mumbai, Maharashtra, with No. 44371 and registration was granted on 1/03/2011.

Please Note:  Janseva Society Mangaon, Mumbai does not have FCRA. So we are working through "All India Soverdia Sangam Trust"

History:  It commenced on 26th January 2013 in Tala block.  Tala is one of the 15 blocks/taluks of Raigad district situated 150kms from the mega city Mumbai. It has 170 villages with 26 gram panchayats. JS is working with the most marginalized and poor groups namely Kathkari (primitive tribe) and dhangars (shepherd community); total of more than ten thousand population. It is also open to OBC (Other Backward Class) and all the needy and marginalized. The Kathkaris are the most vulnerable tribe as they do not have land of their own. During the rainy season they work as landless agricultural labourers and at other times they migrate to distant places in search of livelihood. They work as bonded labourers at brick kilns, construction sites, farmhouses and wherever they are forced to work. JS mainly strives towards the holistic and sustainable development of the Kathkari tribe. It addresses social, economic, educational and developmental issues of the tribe. It believes in participatory, inclusive, integrated and right based approach.

Objectives: Building a society based on peace, justice and love, enhancing every human life to the fullest with a preferential option to tribals.Our main objectives are:

1.      To empower women

2.      To reduce the dropout rate in the primary education.

3.      To empower youth

4.      To strengthen local self-governance/panchayatiraj

5.      To network with government and non -governmental organizations.

6.      To reduce the rate of child marriage.

 

7.      To enhance health with a special reference on traditional health care.
