MPSM starts its activity in 1964 in response to the great drought  in the Western region of M. The Nashik Jesuits asked the Catholic community of Bombay for their support and help for their projects. Along with the help from secular people, they started the support to the farmers, in order to improve the agricultural infrastructure and to ensure a sustainable way of life for them. The foundation was created to implement and manage these projects.

Currentluy, MPSM, is involved in several projects: sustainable agricultures, river administration, ,forest  and  natural resources management. As well as the development of communities trough microfinances, the management of a dairy farm and educational activities to improve the quality of life.

MPSM's mission is based on commitment to the awakening (prabodhan) of tribal communities through community organization, economic growth and development of their natural resources.

MPSM  registration number  is BOM. 127/1964 GBBSD and the registration number of foundations of Mumbai is F-1400.
