Total budget 25.966 ?

The NGO (BSA) is led by the Sister of St Joseph of Cluny, whose main aim is the care, protection, social education and reinsertion of children living in a shelter accommodation. They are around 100 children, 50% girls, and 90% of them have been rescued by the Police as they were being working in slavery and in some cases they would have been sell out. The other 10% are mainly homeless children, living alone, or children with disabilities (almost 5% of the total).
Bal Suraski ABhiyan Trust (BSA) works for their empowerment, centred in their personal and social development, through the education and knowledge-sharing. There is two shelters, one of them for girls and the other one, 3km away, for boys. During the daytime they attend different schools, and for those who have disabilities they go to a special school.

The main objective of the current project is to adapt the buildings to the current governmental regulations, as this is an old building, which used to be a school. Its ownership is the Society of Jesus from Kalimpong, and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny pay a symbolic rent since the past 3 years. Since then there have been several upgrades of the building, which have been funded 90% by themselves and the other 10% by public funding.
However nowadays there are 3 urgent reforms, which will be the focus of this project.
1. Repair and building of the boys? shelter fence. The fence is necessary to avoid that they can escape or get lost outside of the building boundaries. Whenever children get lost or escape, there is governmental warnings. Cost: 1525410 RS 17946 ? 2 months
2. Emergency staircase. The shelters are very big, however there is just one entrance and one exit; therefore an emergency staircase is a need for security reasons. BSA did not had enough savings yet, however the pressure to build the emergency staircase is increasing. Cost: 406 380 Rs 4.781 ? 2 months
3. Generator of alternating current. The District has a very poor electrical energy supply system and it suffers often disturbances. This problem becomes even worst during the rainy season. An alternating current generator would solve the problems, and therefore the daily schedule and organisation in the Shelter would became easier.:
Cost: 313 600 Rs 3.689 ?
