MPSM. Nashik
Training for the development of community participation among adivasis

Responsible NGO: Seva Mandal Prabodhan (MPSM)
Responsible: Fr Wendell D Cruz, SJ
Location: region of Dindori, Surgana, Peth and Trimbak of the Nashik district, and Mokhada’s region of Thane district.
Duration: 1.5 years (2012-2013)
ADA’s assistance: 5.000€/year (9% of the total budget). The rest of the budget is funded by the local government and other NGOs.
Introduction: India government has created a grant program to ensure employment in rural area, this program is called Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme – MREGS-. The objective of the program is to reduce poverty and labour migration.

Every year large amounts of money from these programs are not used. This program is an excellent opportunity for rural community-based development. The Government provides funds for infrastructure development and the local community chief, called Gramsabha, must identify the needs and decide which of the projects will be implemented.
Purpose and description of the project:
1. Promote the local community through information and knowledge to make better use of these resources.
2. Helping the village community to develop a triennial development program.
3. Technical design support and implementation of the project.
