JEEVANALAYA. Kolkhe
Self Help Groups, Bonga Shalas and Adult's formation

Location: villages next to Kolkhe (10-20km radius), that ist 5km from Panvel
Duration: 3 years (2009-2011)
Beneficiaries: 5,000 people indirectly
Amount: 19 228? the 1st year, 11,524?, 11924? 2nd and third (95% total)

Project Objective: Raise awareness among the weaker part of society, to achieve a comprehensive development of marginalized groups through education, health, empowerment and the specific promotion of the culture of the tribal community.

Description:
* Creation of 35 SGH (SHG) in the first year, 40 second and 45 third. The annual increase in SHG is due to the gains made in programs for income generation.
* Perform remedial classes in 8 tribal villages
* Create 12 Bonga Shales (mobile schools).

The activities are headed by a coordinator, three social workers, two workers' agreements and 10 teachers.

Jeevanalaya is an NGO that has been working over 14 years with Adivasis in 20 villages in the area, accompanying and Takur Kathkaris tribes.
