Brief description of its philosophy, origins and organization:
The organization was constituted legally in March 1957 and was registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act of 1950 in the Bombay Public Trust Office of Greater Bombay. No.F-476(B)
Aims of the Organization:
- To work for the social integration and economic development of the kathkaris and other marginal sectors such as the untouchables, and enable them to become involved in their self-development
- Raise the people’s awareness of their unjust and oppressive situation through education and motivation to enable a change in the situation by means of collective action
Work scope:
- To carry out extra support lessons in the villages.
- To motivate kathkari children to continue their education and understand its relevance
- To prepare learning material and resources appropriate to their lifestyle
- To use the educational programme as a means to develop the kathkari community.
